When I was taking some automotive classes back a long time ago maybe 12 years now I went out for a test drive in a truck that I had just rebuilt the engine in and my intructor was getting on it pretty good. When I proceded to ask him why he was driving it that way he basically explained the same thing that this article was saying. Not to drive it too easy because the rings needed to seat early in the cylinders, as well as altering the engine loads and speeds.
